In a new trailer for The Wheel of Time season 2, Amazon gives us a sneak peek at the battles to come. The show is based on an epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan. It was created by Rafe Judkins, and actor Rosamund Pike was in charge of making it.
Moiraine Damodred, who is played by Pike, is a member of the Aes Sedai, a powerful group of women who can use the One Power to move the Wheel. Amazon executives were so sure that the show would be good that season 2 was approved months before season 1 came out.
Season 2 of Wheel of Time wrapped up filming in May, and Amazon has already given the go-ahead for season 3. Season 1 had been leading up to Moiraine finding out which of the Two Rivers villagers was The Dragon Reborn. When they found out it was Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), they went to the Eye of the World to face the Dark One.
After resisting the Dark One’s offer to make Rand’s deepest dreams come true if he gives his powers to the Shadow, Rand uses the One Power to put the Dark One back in prison, but not before Moiraine’s connection to the One Power is cut and Rand goes into hiding, afraid of going crazy like the original Dragon.
In the meantime, five female channelers, including Egwene (Madeleine Madden) and Nyn (Zo Robbins), kill all of the Trollocs attacking Fal Dara by themselves, except for Egwene, who is able to save Nyn’s life after she has been badly hurt.
Season 1 left viewers with a lot of questions, like why Egwene got so powerful all of a sudden. This made many of them interested in where the show would go next. Now, at New York Comic Con, Amazon Prime Video showed a trailer for the much-anticipated second season.
After a “blink and you’ll miss it” recap of season 1, the trailer builds up the excitement by suggesting that both the Shadow and the Light will get stronger. Check out the video below:
What the Wheel of Time Season 2 Trailer Shows About the Story
Moiraine says in the trailer that their victory over the Dark One was only temporary and that they may have woken up the Forsaken. This is a very bad sign. The Forsaken are one of the most dangerous groups in Jordan’s books.
Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), a channeler, once said that the Forsaken sold their souls to the Dark One in exchange for eternal life. Given how important they are to the series, it seems likely that they will be introduced now.
The image of a dark and bloody woman is probably Lanfear, one of the most powerful Forsaken. The trailer focuses a lot on the emotional struggles the characters will go through in season 2. It shows Mat (Barney Harris) quietly suffering, possibly because of his psychic connection to a parasitic dagger.

It also shows Rand (Hammed Animashaun) and Loial (also Hammed Animashaun) being captured and strapped to wheels, and Egwene screaming loudly in battle. Season 2 will probably bring in a lot of important new characters, like Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney), who is a major love interest for Rand, the daughter-heir of the Kingdom of Andor, and a character with the special ability to change the future.
The Wheel of Time has a huge world to explore, a deep and rich history, and 13 books, not counting short stories and a prequel, with a lot of story left to adapt. The trailer for season 2 shows that the show, which was already very ambitious, has grown even more so.
