Warren Buffett was born on August 30, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is the second of three children born to Leila and Howard Buffett, the couple’s solitary son.
He worked as an investment salesperson for his family’s firm, Buffett-Falk & Co. He also owned a gas station and taught a class at the University of Nebraska at Omaha on “Investment Principles.”
In 1949, Buffett became enamored with a young woman named Susan Thompson, whose boyfriend played the ukulele. Since then, he has been playing his own ukelele in order to compete. Buffett married Thompson in 1952.
Buffett purchased a five-bedroom mansion in Omaha, Nebraska, for $31,500. A home in the same area used to cost $500,000, but today it sells for about $2 million.
