The Watch Season 2: How Many Episodes Are There in the Watch’s First Season?

“The Watch” is a police procedural combining science fiction and fantasy elements. The premiere episode broadcast in January 2021 on BBC America. “The Watch” is based on the best-selling “Discworld” novel series by Terry Pratchett.

It’s about a group of police officers who protect the city of Ankh-Morpork from both real and fantastic criminals.

However, “The Watch” is not a direct adaptation. It deviates greatly from the source material. For instance, the novels are set in the Middle Ages, whereas the television series has a punk-rock aesthetic. This may have contributed to the fact that the first season of “The Watch” was not a tremendous success.

On Rotten Tomatoes, just 56 percent of critics and 36 percent of viewers gave it positive reviews. Some fans of the book series disliked the visual differences between the TV and the novels.

However, it is still a unique show with a large amount of source material and a dedicated fan base, despite the fact that some individuals dislike how this version turned out. Here is all we currently know about a potential new season of “The Watch.”

Cast of The Watch Season 2

If a second season of “The Watch” is produced, the main cast will almost probably return. In “The Watch,” the Ankh-Morpork City Watch is tasked with protecting the city from various supernatural animals.

The unit’s leader is portrayed by Richard Dormer as Captain Sam Vimes. Cheery Littlebottom, the unit’s forensics officer, is portrayed by Jo Eaton-Tent.

The Watch Season 2

Constable Carrot Ironfoundersson, the newest member of the City Watch, is portrayed by Adam Hugill. Ralph Ineson provides the voice for Sergeant Detritus, portrayed by Marama Corlett.

Anna Chancellor, who portrays Lord Havelock Vetinari, the ruler of Ankh-Moropork; James Fleet, who portrays the arch-chancellor of Ankh-wizardry Moropork’s school, Unseen University; Wendell Pierce, who portrays Death; and Lara Rossi, who portrays Sam’s wife, Lady Sybil Ramkin, will most likely return.

What Happens in the Second Season of The Watch?

Sam Vimes discovered the Observers’ realm, a place where time has stopped and humans can be taken to practically any alternative reality, based on where the programme left off at the end of Season 1.

In an interview with The Wrap, Adam Hugill stated, “Really, who knows what could occur? Because the world of the Observers and the humans who have been brought there can send Vimes back to any reality in which he already exists, and they can do so in whatever universe they choose.

Therefore, you cannot predict where he will be in the future. Who knows where they’ll place him in the film?”

The Watch Season 2

Carcer Dun believed that The Watch member Lupin Worse was responsible for summoning the dragon that struck Ankh-Morpork at the conclusion of Season 1.

Angua and Carrot ultimately informed each other how they felt about one another, but they did not pursue a relationship. If Season 2 is produced, there will be enough of activities for everyone.

Season 2 of The Watch: Release Date?

The BBC has not yet announced whether “The Watch” will return for a second season, thus it is far too early to provide a release date.

According to Bleeding Cool, filming for the first season began at the end of October in 2019. The debut of the first season on BBC America occurred on January 3, 2021.

It took around a year from the time production began until the show was released, and this was during the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, if the BBC were to revive The Watch, it would not return for at least a year.

Jo Eaton-Kent, who portrays Cheery, believes there is enough material for a second season and even more. She told Collider, “I believe there will be a second season since so many mysteries remain.”

“As I was preparing breakfast earlier, I pondered, “Huh, that question was never really addressed, was it? And this is something that everyone will experience. They did not neglect to discuss it. Everything is deliberate.”
