The first season of The Legend of Vox Machina had just ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering if the story would be continued in the second season. Of course, leaving a cliffhanger without a guarantee of a second season will only aggravate fans. Is the Legend of Vox Machina renewed for a second season, and when can we expect it?
The Legend of Vox Machina will have season two, as the second season was ordered back in 2019 when the first season was announced. Meanwhile, the release date of the second season is still unknown. However, it is very likely that it will be released in late 2022 or early 2023.
Amazon recognized the potential of The Legend of Vox Machina early on, ordering 24 episodes spread across two seasons. As a result, it was already decided that it would have at least two seasons. That being said, we’ll go over the possibilities for when Season 2 will premiere and what its plot will be.
Release Date for the Legend of Vox Machina Season 2
The first season of The Legend of Vox Machina had just ended, with the arc concluding when the Briarwoods were finally killed and defeated before they could fully summon the Whispered One. We saw the team working together to defeat Sylas Briarwood, as Keyleth used a concentrated light-based magic attack to deal the final blow to the vampire. His defeat put an end to his enchantment over Cassandra and Vax.
Meanwhile, in the final episode, the entire squad was able to use Percy’s pepperbox pistol to ward off the spirit of vengeance that was possessing him. He was able to prevent the demon from taking over by killing Delilah, but Cassandra went on to kill the necromancer instead. Whitestone was then left in the capable hands of Cassandra and the townspeople, who went on to rebuild their town.
Vox Machina then returned to Emon to clear their names with Tal’Dorei’s sovereign. And we were left with a huge cliffhanger after the sovereign made a huge announcement with implications for the next season.
As much of a cliffhanger as it was, it left fans eager to see what would happen in the next season. So, with that out of the way, will Vox Machina return for a second season? And when will Season 2 be available?
The good news is that The Legend of Vox Machina’s second season was planned long before the first season even aired. When the production team began work on the first season in 2019, Amazon saw the potential of the series and ordered additional episodes to make the series a two-season series.
As a result, the series was renewed several years ago, and there will undoubtedly be a second season of The Legend of Vox Machina. In fact, the original plan was for it to have 24 episodes spread across two seasons.
Given that the second season was already in the works before the first episode even aired, the good news is that production on the second half of the 24-episode plan most likely started much earlier as well. That means the second season will most likely arrive sometime in the second half of 2022, rather than late this year.
With the Lord of the Rings trilogy releasing in the second half of 2022, it’s possible that Amazon will release Vox Machina later in the year. It is also possible that it will arrive this year or within the next few months.
However, the worst-case scenario is that the second season of The Legend of Vox Machina will be released in early 2023. And, because animated shows aren’t as logistically demanding as live-action shows, the production team shouldn’t have too much trouble finishing the second season if they haven’t already.
Season 2 Trailer for The Legend of Vox Machina
There is no trailer for the second season of The Legend of Vox Machina as of yet. It’s possible that the trailer will arrive in the coming weeks, given that the crew may have already finished animating the season 2 episodes a long time ago.
The Plot of the Legend of Vox Machina Season 2
Season 1 of The Legend of Vox Machina ended on a cliffhanger, as previously stated. The sovereign, King Uriel, announced that he had made mistakes and that he was willing to hand over control of the empire to the Tal’Dorei Council. While everyone was still trying to process the announcement, Vex began to experience headaches that she only gets when dragons are nearby.
From there, we saw King Uriel and Keyleth looking out into the distance, their faces horrified at what was about to happen to Emon. From there, we saw not one, but four dragons making their way to the city, as the series appears to be heading towards The Chroma Conclave, the next arc in the Critical Role storyline.
Those familiar with the Critical Role storyline will recognize the Chroma Conclave as a group of five dragons of various colors. Brimscythe, the antagonist of the first two episodes had already been defeated. That means there are four remaining dragons from the Chroma Conclave, and all four of them were on their way to Emon at the end of season 1.
The four dragons attacked and destroyed the city in the Critical Role storyline, while the members of Vox Machina helped save as many people as they could and brought them to Whitestone. Following that, they rallied their remaining forces to attack the dragons in a desperate attempt to reclaim their homeland. If Tal’Dorei was already struggling with Brimscythe, the youngest and possibly weakest of the five, taking on four ancient dragons would be even more difficult.
Every Character’s Class & Powers in the Legend of Vox Machina
As a result, it’s possible that the second season’s plot will be entirely focused on the Chroma Conclave arc, as the heroes will have to deal with the dragons who sacked their city and forced them to flee and hide. And, as Critical Role fans are aware, there is more to this arc than Vox Machina attempting to kill all four dragons at once.
Season 2 Cast of the Legend of Vox Machina
Because the events of The Legend of Vox Machina season 2 will take place immediately after the events of season 1, the main cast will reunite. This means we’ll get to see the entire Vox Machina, which is made up of:
Keyleth is played by Marisha Ray.
Vex’ahlia Vassar is played by Laura Bailey.
Percival de Rolo is played by Taliesin Jaffe.
Pike Trickfoot is played by Ashley Johnson.
Vax’ildan Vassar is played by Liam O’Brien.
Scanlan Shorthalt is played by Sam Riegel.
Grog Strongjaw is played by Travis Willingham.
Sovereign Uriel (Khary Payton), Lady Kima (Stephanie Beatriz), Cassandra de Rolo (Esme Creed-Miles), Lady Allura Vysoren (Indra Varma), and many others will return as well.
Meanwhile, the voice actors for the dragons and new characters, including Kerrek and Shale, will make their debuts in the second season as well.
How Many Seasons Will Vox Machina Have?
The Legend of Vox Machina was originally planned to have two seasons because Amazon saw its potential. That being said, there is no telling whether or not the series will get a third season, given that the fate of the next seasons after season 2 is entirely dependent on the performance of the first two seasons.
