The Final Score, which in Spanish-speaking areas is called “Goles en Contra,” is coming to Netflix in early November 2022.
The show was first said to be in the works in April 2021, along with eight other Colombian shows. This showed that Netflix was still putting money into local shows for the area. The released Pálpito, Diomedes, Juanpis, and Perfil Falso were also among the shows that were announced.
Here’s how Netflix told people about the new show:
We know that in Colombia, soccer is a religion, so this year we will start making Goles en Contra, a scripted miniseries about the complicated relationship between Colombian soccer and drug trafficking. It was written by Pablo Gonzalez and Camilo Prince (Historia de un Crimen: Colmenares, El Robo del Siglo).
Netflix says the 6-episode series will have the following:
Based on the murder of Andres Escobar, this series looks at the complicated relationship between professional soccer and drug cartels in Colombia in the 1980s and 1990s.
For those who don’t know about Andrés Escobar’s story, he was a famous Colombian football player who was killed after the 1994 FIFA World Cup because he scored an own goal.
The show is being made by Dynamo, a company that has made a lot of Netflix Originals in the past, like the hit shows Narcos, Club de Cuervos, The Great Heist, and Pedal to Metal.
In the United States, the show is rated TV-MA because it has bad language, naked people, and smoking.
On September 28, Netflix Latin America gave us our first look at the new series and told us when it would be available on Netflix, which will be November 2, 2022. The Final Score should be available in all Netflix regions, even though there aren’t pages for the show in all regions as of this writing.
