Because of TellTale Games’ demise, narrative adventure gamers such as myself are left with a void in their hearts. Because that company was responsible for the massive resurgence in popularity of adventure games that we’ve seen over the past decade, the company’s demise as a games developer and publisher was tragic. Star Trek: Resurgence is a narrative adventure game set in the Star Trek universe that is being developed by some of the same people who have worked on some of TellTell’s most successful titles, including Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Star Trek: Resurgence Release Date
After a brief trailer on YouTube, the developers of Star Trek: Resurgence announced the game’s release in late 2021, which came as a bit of a surprise. Many scenes from the adventure game’s gameplay, as well as a few cinematic moments and some of the well-known characters who will presumably play a role in the narrative, were showcased in the trailer.
We’ve known that the game would be released in the spring of 2022 for almost as long as the game was announced, primarily because the trailer explicitly stated this at the very end of the video at the time of its release. Since the trailer was released, few details have been revealed, and we are still unsure of when the game will be released, which is expected to be in the spring.
Star Trek: Resurgence Trailer
As of right now, the only significant hints at the game’s gameplay have come in the form of a trailer posted to the developer’s YouTube channel and a FAQ posted on the game’s official website by the developers. When asked about the game’s gameplay, the developers stated that it would be similar to TellTalle Games’ adventure titles in many ways, but that it would also include some improvements here and there to bring it up to date with today’s technology.
The majority of the game’s modes, which will be divided into two categories, will most likely consist of walking around and engaging in interactive cinematics. This was the formula that TellTale used for many of their previous releases, and based on the trailer, it appears to have been followed in this case, too. It is your responsibility to explore a specific area and interact with the objects that you come across during the walking segments of this game. During interactive cinematics, you’ll have to make dialogue decisions, and there’s also the possibility of QTEs, though it’s unclear whether or not Dramatic Labs will include them in Star Trek: Resurgence at this time.
