Disney+ Netflix New Release

Shang Chi 2 Release Date: Cancellation & Renewal Status in 2022!

Shang Chi 2

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel was announced in December 2021.

There was a theatrical release of the first film back in September of this year, and it was included in the Disney Plus Day festivities in November.

A sequel starring Simu Liu as the legendary martial artist Shang-Chi, written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has been greenlit.

Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings and the subsequent end credits scenes have given us some ideas of what our favorite characters might do next after the “surprise” ending.

The sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, was only confirmed in December 2021.

This has resulted in the film being put on hold until at least late 2022 when production is expected to begin. As a result, we can expect the sequel to be released at the earliest in 2024, which is at least a couple of years away.

We will, however, keep you informed as soon as we receive this new information. Xu Shang-Chi hero Simu Liu will, of course, reprise his role after the events of the first film gave him the confidence to face his demons.

Liu, when asked about the possibility of a sequel to the film, said the following to RadioTimes.com: “Definitely, I intend to return. The movie’s ending certainly makes a nod to it. Crossing my fingers.”

We can expect to see Katy Chen (Awkwafina), his best friend from the first film, in the sequel as well.

Earlier this year, Awkwafina also said to RadioTimes.com: “It would be interesting to see what [Katy] becomes interested in. However, I’m most interested in following the development of the romance between Shang and her.”

After Xu Xialing (Florian Munteanu) became the new head of the Ten Rings, Meng’er Zhang (Ronny Chieng) and Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu) were by her side.

In the meantime, Michelle Yeoh, who played Shang-maternal Chi’s aunt Ying Nan in the first film, has already hinted that we might see her again.

Benedict Wong, who played Wong in the first film, and Sir Ben Kingsley, who played Trevor Slattery, are two other MCU veterans who could return.

Tony Leung and Fala Chen may reprise their roles as Wenwu and Ying Li in flashback scenes, despite the fact that both characters are now deceased.

Is Shang-Chi 2 Getting a Trailer?

Because Shang-second Chi’s outing was just confirmed, there is no footage from the sequel yet.

However, the first film’s deleted scenes can now be viewed on Disney’s Plus service.

We’ll be sure to put up a link to the trailer as soon as it’s available, but be prepared to wait a while since production hasn’t started yet.

How Will Shang-Character Chi Be Featured in a New Netflix Series?

For Disney Plus, Destin Daniel Cretton will be working on an additional Marvel Studios series in December 2021.

“Destin is an amazing collaborator who brought a unique perspective and skill to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Deadline.

As he says, “We had a great time working together on the film and he has so many intriguing ideas for stories that he wants to bring to life on Disney Plus.”

We’ve already seen WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and Hawkeye on the platform, and there are more on the way, so it looks like we’ll get more insight into the Shang-Chi universe if Cretton stays in this part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A spin-off series based on Cretton’s The Ten Rings might make sense, given the movie’s post-credits scene hinted at a return of the organization.
