The third season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ will include the return of Pedro Pascal as the lone armored gunslinger, along with his adopted foundling Grogu. Despite recent rumors claiming an official start date for the live-action Star Wars series, no release date has been set as of yet.
During D23, a web trailer for season 3 of The Mandalorian was published, hinting at trouble on the Mandalorians’ homeworld. In 2023, two years after the events of season 2’s finale, The Mandalorian will return to screens.
Din Djarin will return to the ruins of Mandalore after helping Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) rise to power and reconnecting with Grogu in an effort to redeem himself as a Mandalorian once more.
Din, who flies a customized Naboo N-1 starfighter and wields the legendary Darksaber, must overcome many obstacles in his path to becoming a respected leader of the Mandalorians.
These include the possibility of a new civil war with Bo-Katan (Katee Sackoff) and the return of Moff Gideon, leader of the Imperial Remnant, who is currently imprisoned (Giancarlo Esposito).
Season 3 of The Mandalorian is one of Disney+’s most anticipated shows for 2023, but while recent reports have stated that the program will broadcast at the beginning of 2023, this is by no means a given.
As reported by Making Star Wars, season 3 of The Mandalorian will launch on February 22. Screen Rant checked with Disney to make sure the claimed date was correct, but the studio said the premiere of Season 3 has not been scheduled just yet.
To be fair, the announcement of The Mandalorian’s return in February 2023 was made at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, so that month isn’t completely out of the question.
When Might the Third Season of The Mandalorian Be Released?
The release date for The Mandalorian isn’t known yet, but there are a few clues that could point to when it might come out. Still, February is a likely candidate, but there are other things to consider. After The Bad Batch season 2 was pushed back from late 2022 to early 2023, the animated show is now set to start on January 4.
Season 2 will have 16 episodes. As you can see with Marvel and Star Wars titles, Disney+ has planned their releases so that no two original shows from the same property air at the same time. As a result, it’s possible that The Mandalorian season 3 won’t come out until April or May, after The Bad Batch is over.
The delay caused by the animated show could make the February release date inaccurate. Also, Star Wars Celebration 2023 will be held in London from April 7–10, which means that season 3 could get a lot of attention from the event through dedicated panels or even special screenings for attendees, just like Obi-Wan Kenobi did at the 2022 Celebration event in Anaheim.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are said to have planned out and know what will happen at the end of The Mandalorian. However, many dedicated fans are wondering where Din and Grogu’s stories will go now that The Book of Boba Fett has answered many of season 2’s biggest questions.
Din’s quest to bring Grogu back to the Jedi has ended, and his ownership of the Darksaber makes him a possible candidate to bring Mandalore back together and lead it. Season 3 of The Mandalorian looks like it will shake up the show’s formula and go into new areas.
But since Disney has denied rumors that the movie will come out in February, fans may have to wait longer than they want to see Din and Grogu’s clan of two again.
