Mike Birbiglia, a stand-up comedian, and actor, has also worked as a storyteller and director. Birbiglia has a condition known as rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder. As a result of this condition, he was sleepwalking in a motel in Walla Walla, Washington when he crashed through a second-story window and injured himself. In the mishap, he sustained a wound to his leg, which required 33 stitches to close.

Mike was fortunate enough to obtain an internship on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in 1997. There, he worked alongside Jordan Schlansky, an assistant producer who would eventually become a regular on Conan’s shows and become well-known for his contributions. Following his graduation from college, Birbiglia relocated to New York, where he eventually appeared on the “Late Show with David Letterman” in the year 2002 to do stand-up comedy.

He gave a performance at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2003, and he self-released his debut comedy album, titled “Dog Years,” the following year. This was followed by “My Secret Public Album” (2005), “Two Drink Mike” (2006), “My Secret Public Journal Live” (2007), “Sleepwalk with Me Live” (2011), “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” (2013), and “Thank God For Jokes” (2013). Mike earned a Writer/Director Award at the Nantucket Film Festival and a Best of Next! Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012 for his work on the film “Sleepwalk with Me.”
