Evans portrayed the real-life criminal Bruce Reynolds in the 2013 British thriller “The Great Train Robbery.” In 2018, he was cast as New York Times artist John Moore in the TNT period drama series “The Alienist,” based on the eponymous novel by Caleb Carr.

In 2020, when the animated series “Crossing Swords” debuted on Hulu, Evans voiced King Merriman. In the same year, he portrayed Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins in The Pembrokeshire Murders, a British miniseries.
