Most remakes are risky, but Kung Fu wasn’t one of them. In an interview with Digital Spy, star Tzi Ma said that this new version of the 1970s show, which was once run by a white man, is “reclaiming that story.”
He couldn’t have been more correct. The CW’s new version of the Kung Fu franchise puts Asian Americans in the spotlight in ways that are still too rare on TV.
It’s bringing in viewers, too. The first episode of Kung Fu drew a big crowd of 1.4 million people, and the show has kept that number, making it The CW’s most popular Wednesday night show in the last seven years.
So it was only a matter of time until the show was officially picked up for a second season. So, when will we be able to watch the show again? Here’s all the information you need.
What Happened in Kung Fu Season 1?
Critics had mixed things to say about Season 1 of Kung Fu. We expect that people will like Kung Fu Season 2 when it comes out. At the end of the first season of Kung Fu, Nicky, Evan, and Henry follow a lead that takes them to a small town in Canada.
Zhilan joins forces with Kerwin Tan, and Mei-Li and Jin find themselves at a crossroads. Nicky goes back to school to clear a college student’s name of a crime he did not commit. There, she meets a sorority with a dark secret.
Then, Henry and Nicky follow a clue that leads them to a K-pop concert in Las Vegas and right into the path of Kerwin and Zhilan. Mei-Li and Jin, on the other hand, decide where to eat. Henry and Nick try to figure out how to read a strange map that could lead them to the Forge, but time is running out.
At the same time, Althea and the rest of the family stars were getting ready for Po Po to arrive. Later, in the season finale, which is a very exciting event, Nick finds what he needs to open the forge. At the same time, a problem at home could stop Dennis and Althea from having their tea ceremony.
Let’s wait and see what comes next. We think that the story from the first season of the TV show Kung Fu will continue in the second season. If we learn anything new about how the second season of Kung Fu will go, we’ll post it here. Let’s check out the trailer for the second season of Kung Fu.

Who Will Be in the Cast of Kung Fu Season 2?
As long as nothing unexpected happens behind the scenes, it’s safe to assume that all of the main actors will be back for the new episodes.
- Olivia Liang as Nicky Shen
- Kheng Hua Tan as Mei-Li Shen
- Eddie Liu as Henry Yan
- Shannon Dang as Althea Shen
- Jon Prasida as Ryan Shen
- Gavin Stenhouse as Evan Hartley
- Vanessa Kai as Pei-Ling Zhang
- Tony Chung as Dennis Soong
Robert Berens, who is also a co-showrunner, talked to Deadline about how the surprise new characters were introduced at the end of the first season.
“I think it will be exciting to see the same characters and the same idea all over again. As for the warriors and guardians mythology, Nicky’s cousin, who she didn’t know about and about whom we teased at the end of the last episode, will be a big part of that “he said.
“Mr. Tan said that her aunt’s daughter is the child of a warrior and a guardian. What’s the meaning of that? Someone has basically joined these two magical bloodlines together. So, I think Nicky will have a very interesting rival in season two.”
In September 2021, while they were filming, Liang gave a sneak peek at what was coming up by showing a new stunt she was training for.
first day back with my #CWKungFu fam and they indulged me when i begged them to teach me how to do THE #shangchi bus kick. @SimuLiu watch ur back i’m coming for u after i’ve trained for 300 more hours pic.twitter.com/Uy0PPvyJIN

Since it reminded her of a move Simu Liu does so well in the new Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, she sent him a direct message on Twitter and joked that she could do it too “after 300 hours.”
What is the Plot of Kung Fu Season 2?
Nicky sent the energy back into the earth to end the quest for magical weapons at the end of season one. After that battle, has she learned any new skills? It’s hard to say for sure right now, but Nicky has changed in some way. Zhilan is also in prison, but that doesn’t mean we’ll never see her again.
So, what will happen in season two because of all this? Olivia Liang told Entertainment Tonight the following about the future of the show:
“It looks like Biange has followed Nicky to San Francisco, and because of that, the myths and magic have also made their way to where her family lives, which is San Francisco. Since the Shens are part of this bloodline, I think we can expect them to get even more involved in what Nicky is doing than they already do.
“Baba and Mama might be able to help. I’m not sure, but that’s kind of what I hope would happen.” Olivia also had some ideas about what she wanted to happen in season two.
“I’m just putting this out there, but I’d love for Nicky to meet even more guardians the way she met Simon and knows Pei-Ling. It would be cool to meet more guardians if they all got together and said, “It’s in San Francisco, we have to help.” “Right now, I’m just guessing,” she said.
In general, it seems likely that Nicky and Henry will spend more time together outside of the library in the future. They can finally stop studying old books and go on a few real dates. This means that in season two, we’ll probably see more of Henry’s personal life.
The ensemble cast is one of the best things about this show, so after Ryan’s breakup and Althea’s NDA problem at the end of season one, things will continue to change.
