James Joseph Norton Jr. entered the world on July 19, 1968, in Bayonne, New Jersey. His mother was a librarian, while his father was a United States Postal Service truck driver. Tracy is the name of his sibling.

In April of 1990, he gave his first stand-up comedy performance at an open mic. Since he was 12 years old, his goal was to become a stand-up comedian.

In the year 1997, Jim appeared on an episode of “The Louie Show” hosted by Louie Anderson. Andrew “Dice” Clay witnessed the athlete’s appearance and became an instant supporter.

Jim and Andrew met for the first time at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles shortly after the event took place. Jim was invited by Andrew to join him on the road as his opening act. They would collaborate for a total of three years in the workplace.

Jim first learned about the popular radio programme “Opie & Anthony” through Dice. The programme was nationally syndicated during the late 1990s and early 2000s and enjoyed tremendous success.

The programme eventually became known as “Opie with Jim Norton.” This particular incarnation ultimately failed, and in 2016 he began co-hosting the Jim & Sam show with Sam Roberts.
