Coventry Town

After joining the Coventry City youth team, Madison was included on the club’s 2013–14 first team roster. He did not, however, make his debut with the club. In August 2014, he made his debut against Cardiff City in the League Cup in a 2-1 loss.

After securing his first professional contract for three and a half years in November 2014, Maddison was forced to miss a significant amount of the 2014-2015 season owing to suspension and injury incurred in a loss to Doncaster Rovers on Christmas Day.

Norwich Town

On February 1, 2016, Norwich City signed Maddison to a three-and-a-half-year, undisclosed-amount contract. However, he was promptly loaned back to Coventry City for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.

On August 23, 2016, Maddison made his debut for Norwich against his former club Coventry in an EFL Cup encounter. Aberdeen FC of the Scottish Premiership borrowed Maddison for the first half of the 2016–17 season on August 31, 2016.

After spending time on loan with Aberdeen, Norwich finally gave Maddison his league debut on April 17, 2017, following a loan spell with Aberdeen. In the second half of a 3-1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale, he joined the game as a replacement. Madison renewed her contract by four years in June.

The Club Leicester City

Maddison reportedly signed a £20 million, five-year contract with Premier League club Leicester City on June 20, 2018. In a 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 18, he scored his first Premier League goal. He continued his outstanding play for the team by converting consecutive penalty kicks against AFC Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town in the Premier League. On July 29, 2020, he signed a new four-year contract with Leicester.

Global Career

Maddison was named for the England under-21 team in March of 2016. Nonetheless, an injury stopped him from playing. In November 2017, he made his debut for England’s under-21 side against Ukraine in a qualification match for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

On June 24, Maddison made his debut with the national squad in a 3-3 draw against Croatia at the San Marino Stadium. On May 27, he was chosen to England’s roster of 23 for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Maddison was forced to retire from the primary team in October 2019 due to illness.
