In 2003, Denys began working as an assistant consultant for a Ukrainian member of parliament. In 2016, he was admitted to the autonomous Ukrainian Institute of the Future.

Denys was named Ukraine’s interior minister six months prior to the July 2021 Russian invasion.

As Minister of the Interior, Denys was responsible for updating the Ukrainian people on casualties caused by Russian attacks through the Ukrainian Police and emergency services.
