Spoilers for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 4 Follow

Season 5 of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous appears to be in the works, based on how season 4 ends. Camp Cretaceous, Netflix’s animated series, has helped maintain interest in the Jurassic franchise since its debut in late 2020. Seasons 1 and 2 of Camp Cretaceous originally took place during the fall of Isla Nublar, as seen in 2015’s Jurassic World, but season 3 saw a time jump that aligned the series with the timeframe of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Elements of Camp Cretaceous are also expected to have a connection to Jurassic World: Dominion.

After finally escaping Isla Nublar at the end of season 3, Darius (Paul-Mikel Williams), Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), Ben (Sean Giambrone), and Yasmina (Kausar Mohammed) of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous found themselves stranded on an entirely new island. Instead of fleeing from savage dinosaurs, the teenagers in Camp Cretaceous season 4 took on the role of protectors of the dinosaurs on the island, which is owned by Mantah Corp. The kids also meet new human characters, including a helpful scientist named Dr. Mae Turner (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and a villainous programmer named Kash from Mantah Corp. (Haley Joel Osment).

Season 4 of Camp Cretaceous was a welcome departure from the show’s original formula. Manta Corp’s futuristic island incorporated elements of Westworld, with biomes such as a desert, swamp, and arctic to house Mantah Corp’s genetically-engineered hybrid dinosaurs, similar to Jurassic World. The island is even guarded by dangerous robots known as BRADs. However, Camp Cretaceous season 4 ends on a cliffhanger that almost guarantees a season 5, and here’s everything we know about what’s next for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.

Is Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous on the Way?

Season 5 of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous has yet to be announced by Netflix. However, the streaming service usually waits a few weeks after the most recent season of Camp Cretaceous is released on Netflix before announcing the next season. So far, Camp Cretaceous seasons 1-3 have been released four months apart: season 1 in September 2020, season 2 in January 2021, and Camp Cretaceous season 3 in May 2021. Season 4 of Camp Cretaceous premiered on December 3, 2021, for a total of 7 months.

Given the time it takes to animate, voice, and edit Camp Cretaceous, season 5 may already be finished or nearing completion by the time Netflix announces its release date. Meanwhile, Jurassic World: Dominion will be released on June 10, 2022, so Camp Cretaceous season 5’s release, if it occurs, maybe timed by Netflix to coincide with the release of Colin Trevorrow’s highly anticipated film.

Everything We Know About Camp Cretaceous Season 5

Season 4 of Camp Cretaceous ended on the shocking cliffhanger that Mantah Corp is run by Kenji’s father, Mr. Kon (Andrew Kushiro). Manta Corp has been a villainous presence on Camp Cretaceous since season one, and Kenji has mentioned his distant father several times, so the show’s long-running storylines are now converging. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 4 feels like a watershed moment in the series that could lead to the teen campers finally being rescued, and it would be strange to end on a cliffhanger if the producers didn’t already know Camp Cretaceous season 5 was in the works.

Furthermore, Darius was able to communicate with the mainland, letting his older brother Brandon (Benjamin Flores, Jr.) know he is alive and determined to save him. However, the campers’ discovery and sabotage of Mantah Corp’s plans to establish a dinosaur fight club on their island clearly jeopardize their lives. Hopefully, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5, if it happens and is the final season of Netflix’s animated series, will answer all questions and give the teenagers the happy ending they deserve after the unimaginable ordeal they’ve endured.
